Make batter according to box directions

Bake just three cupcakes first, until they spring back.

Once cooled, mash up the cupcakes in a small bowl.

Add water and food coloring and mix until well blended. Consistency should be that of dough.

Roll the red dough into little balls, about the size and shape of a Hershey Kiss.

Insert a pointed top into the flat end of the “kiss” to make a heart shape.

Meanwhile, line cupcake tin with wrappers and fill 1/3 of the way with batter and bake for 5 mins until it’s just set.

Remove the pan and insert the hearts in the center. Spoon over remaining batter.

Tap the pan a few times to allow for the batter to fill the center of the hearts.

Bake for an additional 10 minutes until cupcakes are cooked through and spring back to the touch.

Cool completely and decorate.
